Somme 110

SOMME 110: Rediscover History. Remember the fallen.

In the summer of 1916 the Battle of the Somme raged in Western Europe. The battle was intended to relieve pressure on the French forces at Verdun and to inflict heavy losses on the German Army. The initial advance on July 1st was a disaster, as the six German divisions facing the advancing British mowed them down with their machine guns, killing or wounding some 60,000 men on the first day alone: the single heaviest day of casualties in British Military history to that point. Join Challenge The Wild on an expedition that retraces history’s footsteps. Explore the trenches where soldiers awaited their fate, visit monuments and memorials to our brave soldiers and delve into the strategic decisions that shaped the course of World War I. This is your chance to witness firsthand life on the Western Front. Book your spot on our SOMME 110 expedition today and experience the raw courage and unwavering hope that defined this pivotal moment in history.
