The northern section of The Pembrokeshire Coast Path starts in St Dogmaels and finishes in Broad Haven. This 84 mile trek includes some of some of the most inspiring and exquisite coastal paths in the UK. You will walk through glorious surf beaches, including Whitesand's Bay and Newgale, see ancient stone circles, visit the Blue Lagoon and maybe even spot a dolphin or seal! This trek has incredibly varied coastal scenery from sandy beaches to dramatic cliffs, almost all contained within The Pembroke Coast National Park.

Highlights include:

  • Some of the most beautiful coastline in the UK.
  • Passing many glorious beaches, including Whitesands Bay.
  • The Blue Lagoon at Abereiddi, home of the Red Bull Cliff Diving Championships!

Day 2: St Dogmaels to Fishguard – 15 miles
We will begin our trek along The Pembrokeshire Coastal path from the small village of St Dogmaels. We leave the village following the road, passing the first of many beautiful beaches on this trek; Poppit Sands. Continuing along the road for a short while then following the dramatic coastline, with views across to Cardigan Island. Next, we make our way along the undulating cliff path, where dolphins can often be spotted. Passing through the scenic Ceibwr Bay and eventually seeing Newport Sands in the distance. As the day draws to an end we will be following the River Nevern into woodland before reaching the centre of Newport.
Accommodation: Newport

Day 3: Newport to Pwll Deri - 21 miles
From Newport, we walk along the beach depending on the tide. We then hike above the slate quarries, used for walling stone in Newport, before walking from the Bays of Aber Rhigian to Aber Forest. The roiute then takes us to the excellent view point at Dinas Head, where you will be able to see Fishguard and Goodwick in the distance. For the rest of the day you will continue to follow the coastal path to Fishgaurd and enjoy the views and dramatic cliffs.
From Fishguard we make our way to Goodwick, on a minor road before ascending back onto the coastal path. The route takes on a slightly different character to previous days - it is sandier and more open than the earlier section and slightly less undulating. We follow the path to the lighthouse at Strumble Head before continuing our journey to Pwll Deri.
Accommodation in or Pwll Deri.

Day 4: Pwll Deri to Whitesands Bay - 22 miles
We begin by passing the memorial stone at Pwll Deri before continuing along the coastal path and past the stunning bays of Aber Bach, Aber Mawr and Abercastle. There is very little road walking, or even road crossings - just miles of excellent coastal walking. After passing Abercastle, we walk through the village of Trefin, before reaching the outstanding ruins of Porthgain itself.
We continue our trek from Porthgain and arrive at Abereiddi, famous for the stunning Blue Lagoon and home to The Red Bull Cliff Diving Championships! From here we have a short ascent out of the bay before continuing towards St Davids Head and into Whitesands Bay itself.

Day 5: Whitesands Bay to Newgate Sands - 16 miles
From Whitesands Bay we head south along the costal path, with excellent views of the nearby Ramsey Island to the lifeboat station at St. Justinans. We then follow the coast in a westerly direction and walk above Porthlysgi Bay and through the Quay at Porth Clais. From here we pass the beautiful bays of St. Non’s, Caerfai and Caer Bwdy before reaching Solva.
We leave Solva and pass the interesting spur of Dinas Fawr before making our way to the famous Newgale Sands, well renowned for its excellent surfing and beautiful large sandy beach. This is where our journey will come to an end and it’s back to St David’s for a celebration meal..
