Join Ant Middleton on a remarkable journey through the history of Operation Dynamo, retracing the footsteps of the soldiers who fought, retreated and ultimately escaped from the beaches of Dunkirk during one of the most extraordinary moments of the Second World War.
Between 26 May and 4 June 1940, more than 338,000 Allied troops were evacuated from Dunkirk in what became known as the Miracle of Dunkirk. Against overwhelming odds, soldiers, sailors and civilians came together to achieve one of the greatest evacuations in military history.
Over this unique expedition, you’ll follow the route taken by the British Expeditionary Force as they fell back towards Dunkirk, learning the stories of courage, determination and resilience that continue to inspire generations today.
Along the way you’ll:
• Hike sections of the route taken by the British Expeditionary Force during their withdrawal to Dunkirk
• Pass through the iconic Menin Gate, one of the most famous war memorials in Europe
• Visit the Dunkirk War Museum and gain a deeper understanding of Operation Dynamo
• Explore memorials, battle sites and relics connected to the evacuation
• Visit the Dunkirk Memorial and pay tribute to those who fought and sacrificed during the campaign
• Sail from Dunkirk back to the United Kingdom, retracing the final stage of the evacuation route taken by thousands of Allied soldiers
